A major reason for peritoneal dialysis catheter replacement is outflow
obstruction. This is commonly due to adherence of the catheter to the
peritoneum. Using a blunted trocar from an acute dialysis kit the catheter can
be mobilized under fluoroscopy, thus restoring function and obviating the need
for surgery.
KEY WORDS: Whiplash technique; outflow obstruction; catheters.
