From the Division of Nephrology, Dept. of Medicine University of Missouri Health Sciences Center and Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital, Columbia, Missouri 65212
This paper updates a previous report from the University of Missouri
summarizing experience with peritonitis in patients on CAPD. This paper
summarizes five years of experience in diagnosing and treating peritonitis at
this center. The incidence of peritonitis is much lower in recent years. The
center now is more likely to hospitalize patients and much more inclined to
remove catheters if the peritonitis does not respond promptly to therapy.
